What is Have a Cuppa for ME ? 

As you probably know Bio-Medical research into Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.)  is desperately needed. Government funding via the established research agencies is hard to access for groups wishing to research ME.

So we, the M.E. Community, must do something to help ourselves.

The idea with Have a Cuppa for ME is simple but brilliant (as the best ideas often are).

Invest in ME is now asking M.E. sufferers, individuals & Support Groups across the country, to host a Tea or Coffee Morning. 

Posters are available in Word and are downloadable and, of course, the wording can be edited to suit your needs.
It needn't be a huge affair, if you can just manage to invite a couple of friends or neighbours in ,even for half an hour.
(Get them to make the Cuppa if you are not able) - then charge them for the privilege !

Ask friends, family or local firms & businesses to get involved, maybe they could hold "Cuppa for M.E." Tea/Coffee breaks at work.
 Money raised can be donated directly to your nominated research team but we would ask that you specify the money came from a "Have a Cuppa for ME" event.

We would also like to keep a running total of the money raised from this initiative so could you feedback the information directly to us? Use our guestbook to provide news on your event.

Can you Help?
 The answer is almost undoubtedly YES!

The aim of Invest in ME is to bring together like-minded individuals and groups to campaign for research and funding to establish an understanding of the Aetiology (causes), Pathogenesis (harmful effects) and Epidemiology (the pattern of distribution of a disease through a population) of M.E. This should lead to the development of a universal "Thumb-Print Test" that can confirm the presence of M.E. and, subsequently, medical treatments to cure or alleviate the effects of the illness.

Please join us and help make ME an illness which is properly understood and where funding is provided for biomedical research treatment and cure.

ME Awareness MONTH
What are you doing next May? IIME are already planning for May 2006 - ME Awareness Month. Plan your Have a Cuppa events during May for maximum publicity of ME Awareness Month. Why not come to the ME Conference 2006 and listen to some of the most prominent speakers in the ME community and hear the latest on research and educational support for ME.
